The new Caractère store has inaugurated a new season of fashion with a special event, celebrating women of character in a unique architectural space. On 15 November, in the heart of Italy’s fashion capital, on the corner of Piazza della Scala between via Verdi and via Manzoni, glasses were raised to the success of the first in a series of events to be held in the brand’s new location. A busy calendar of cultural events has been drawn up with a sophisticated and inquisitive public in mind, occasions for meeting and sharing, reflecting the function the building was originally designed for.
The new store in Milan, designed by the all-female team of architects Carmen Koller and Elisa De Marchi, was the perfect backdrop for the launch of Heritage, the new capsule collection featuring twelve classic garments that have been given a contemporary reworking. The collection conveys Caractère’s essential and elegant style, a nod to the glorious past of a brand with such an important history but one that is firmly rooted in the present and that looks keenly to the future and the global market. The garments are made of exquisite materials, including pure cashmere, silk, leather and alpaca wool, and revisit some of the models worn over the years by the exceptional “faces” of the brand which have earned themselves a place in its history books – top models Carla Bruni and Helena Christensen to name but a few. Heritage is an exclusive tribute to women with a strong identity, women who realise their passions in their life and work, and the name underlines the strong corporate identity, established in the Nineties and still evolving. Stronger than ever.
Caractère women are passionate and dynamic. Women of one and many faces. Women like Rosalba Piccinni, whom the brand symbolically elected guest of honour at the opening event. The “Singing Florist” and her warm jazz voice entertained guests as she was accompanied by Guido Bombardieri and his sax, surrounded by floral arrangements she had prepared. One of these was an arrangement of spectacular branches which she had painted burgundy and placed in clear vases with large agave leaves inside. Rosalba’s ability to combine her passion for singing, flowers, good food and design, has led to an eclectic professional life and the creation of Potafiori, the Milan bistro that has won over many patrons thanks to its sophisticated versatility. Rosalba Piccinni’s voice, together with the presentation of the Heritage capsule collection by Caractère, helped make the new store an engaging, lively and elegant space. A fascinating narrative context where you can lose yourself and savour the style and originality of the fall-winter ’17 collection.
This first successful event is just a taster of things to come over the next couple of months and celebrates the brand’s return in grand style. Caractère has a new home and dedicates it to women of character.
